Your pitch is your venue's most valuable asset. Whether you manage a Premier League stadium, a rugby ground, a cricket venue or a multi-use arena, protecting that surface during concerts, exhibitions and non-sporting events is critical, both to the revenue the event generates and to the playing performance required the moment the event is over. The Box Group supplies modular stadium turf protection systems that distribute load across the pitch surface to prevent compaction, rutting and grass die-off beneath staging, crowd areas, vehicle routes and production equipment. Systems cover the full range from lightweight pedestrian pitch covers for fan zones and hospitality areas through to heavy duty composite and aluminium trackway for stage structures, cranes and HGV access routes - all available to buy outright or hire.

Stadium Turf Protection Applications
Stadium turf protection is required whenever a pitch, playing surface or arena floor needs to be protected during an event or operation that would otherwise cause ground damage. Our systems are specified by venue managers, groundskeepers, event production companies and tour promoters across professional sport and entertainment
Stadium Concerts & Major Tours
Protect the pitch during major concert productions - from stage build and load-in through the event to load-out and removal. Heavy duty trackway systems create permanent vehicle access routes for production trucks, cranes and forklifts across the pitch surface, while lighter systems cover audience areas and hospitality zones. Trusted at stadium-level concerts by some of the world's biggest touring acts.
Pitch Load-In & Load-Out Protection
The most serious pitch damage at stadium events occurs during load-in and load-out, when the heaviest vehicles make repeated crossings under full load. Correctly specified heavy duty trackway creates defined, protected vehicle corridors that prevent the rutting and compaction most likely to delay pitch recovery. I-Trac composite trackway supports axle loads up to 2,000kg; the AmP Panel aluminium system handles the heaviest plant movements.
Stadium Exhibitions & Trade Shows
Transform the pitch into a stable exhibition floor for trade shows, product launches, graduation ceremonies and corporate events. Modular turf protection panels create a level, solid surface suitable for stand construction and sustained visitor traffic, with full pitch recovery after removal. Suitable for both natural turf and synthetic surfaces.
Hospitality, VIP & Fan Zones
Create safe, stable flooring for pitch-level hospitality areas, sponsor activations, fan zones and VIP enclosures during events. Lightweight systems provide a firm walking surface over turf for guests in formal footwear, with options for carpet or covering to suit event presentation requirements. Anti-slip performance maintained in all weather conditions.
Indoor Arena & Multi-Use Venue Protection
Protect arena floors, indoor synthetic pitches and wooden sports hall surfaces during concerts, exhibitions and activations. Our systems are suitable for both outdoor stadium and indoor arena environments - surface compatibility and load requirements should be confirmed with our technical team for indoor applications on concrete, wood or synthetic arena floors.
Pitch Construction & Maintenance Works
Protect adjacent playing surfaces during construction, maintenance and infrastructure works in and around stadiums. Temporary access routes and work platforms created with our trackway systems allow contractors, plant and materials to move across sensitive surfaces without causing damage to areas outside the construction zone.

Stadium Turf Protection — Frequently Asked Questions
What is stadium turf protection?
Stadium turf protection is a modular flooring system designed to protect natural, hybrid and synthetic playing surfaces during concerts, exhibitions, non-sporting events and construction works. The interlocking panels distribute load across the pitch surface to prevent the compaction, rutting and grass die-off caused by heavy staging, crowd traffic and vehicle movements. Systems are installed before an event and removed afterwards, with the pitch returning to playing condition after a recovery period.
Which stadium turf protection system should I use for a concert?
Most stadium concerts require a combination of systems. Heavy duty composite trackway such as I-Trac or aluminium trackway such as the AmP Panel is specified for vehicle access routes, production trucks, forklifts and cranes during load-in and load-out. Stadia XHD is the preferred system for stage areas, high-traffic zones and full-pitch coverage at major concerts, offering 50% faster installation than comparable systems. Lighter systems such as Stadia X and Stadia X Lite cover pedestrian areas, hospitality zones and fan areas. Contact The Floor Box for a full specification recommendation.
Will stadium turf protection damage the pitch?
No. When correctly specified and installed, stadium turf protection systems protect the pitch from damage rather than causing it. The panels distribute load to prevent compaction and surface damage beneath. The greatest risk to pitch health is from incorrect specification, extended coverage beyond recommended durations, or use of systems not designed for the specific pitch type. We work with groundskeepers and work with turf consultants to specify the right system and minimise coverage time.
How long can turf protection stay on a stadium pitch?
Safe coverage duration depends on pitch type, time of year and the specific system used. Natural grass in the growing season is most sensitive and tolerates shorter coverage periods. Natural grass in dormancy, hybrid and synthetic pitches typically tolerate longer coverage. Systems with better ventilation characteristics extend the safe window. We do not recommend relying on generic timeframes - contact our team with your pitch specification, event dates and coverage area for project-specific guidance.
What makes Stadia XHD different from other stadium turf protection systems?
Stadia XHD is The Box Group’s next-generation stadium turf protection system, designed with over 20 years of industry experience. Its key advantage is a hybrid self-locking connection system that eliminates the need for locking nuts, turnkeys, cam locks or loose pins, making it deployable 50% faster than comparable systems. It is entirely manhandable with minimal training, making it ideal for tight concert production schedules and rapid venue turnarounds. Stadia XHD protects natural, synthetic and hybrid turf and is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.
Is stadium turf protection available to hire?
Yes. All stadium turf protection systems from The Floor Box are available to hire as well as to purchase outright. A buy-back scheme is also available on purchased panels, making outright purchase a viable long-term investment for venues hosting multiple events per year. Contact us with your event dates, pitch dimensions and load requirements for a hire quotation or purchase recommendation.
Can you protect both natural grass and synthetic turf?
Yes. Our stadium turf protection systems are designed for use on natural grass, hybrid and synthetic turf surfaces. For synthetic and hybrid pitches, the specific interlocking connection method and panel underside should be checked to ensure compatibility - some systems are better suited to particular turf types. Our technical team can advise on the correct system for your specific pitch specification.
Do you supply stadium turf protection internationally?
Yes. The Box Group supplies stadium turf protection systems for venues and events worldwide. We have supplied major international stadium productions including The Kingdom Arena, Riyadh for world class boxing matches, and have experience supporting large-scale events across Europe and beyond. Contact us with your venue location, event dates and pitch dimensions for an international freight quotation and lead time.
