The fact you are reading this blog is a dream come true for all of us at Floorbox. When we started this journey, our goal was simple: give customers like you a trustworthy site to compare flooring solutions for all sorts of projects, and give you the benefit of the wisdom we’ve acquired during years of using these products. Now Floorbox is live, and you’re here. Job one is done.
My name is John Davy and I came up with the idea of Floorbox after spending 18 years working on some of the biggest events in the world. It didn’t matter if it involved staging a U2 concert, working on military operations or preparing the venues at the London 2012 Olympics, my team were at the epicentre of the action.
We were the first people to arrive on the ground, and the last to leave. That gave us an incredible insight as we watched many different grounds – some historic, many iconic – be prepared, used and then restored to their former glory. It was our job to make sure premiership football grounds, royal parks and all kinds of other places were left in perfect condition after the event was over. There’s nothing like that kind of pressure to keep the heart pumping!
Over the years, we found out which kit worked best for which job. The worst-case scenario is a flooring system being laid but then breaking because it’s not up to the job. You don’t want to have a conversation about pitch damage with a groundskeeper at Arsenal or Chelsea. On the other hand, you might spend a lot of money on some over-engineered high-tech solution only to discover a cheaper option would have done the same job for half the price. Trial and error aren’t the best ways to discover the truth.
It seemed like madness that there wasn’t a place you could look through the huge range of product choices on the market, and compare them according to your specific requirement. A place where you could read case study pieces that reported how various systems worked in real life, used by professionals doing something like project you are working on. Then I had a brainwave; and so..
